WHOT?

A day that took the VJs located in Falmouth to the college. A memorale event, the canteen was turned nto a club with two huge projections and two (no so big) other screens.

Performing with footage from the Journeys once again was a learning experience about what works and what doesn't work visually and in terms of effects I can use from the mixer.

There was evidence, by way of a conversation i overheard regarding travelling while performing, that those engaged with the footage were recalling from their own memories. this is recognition of the outcome i had envisaged which is to trigger conversations between the audience related to the images they are observing. This is from my side a purposeful provocation to mentally travelling in time and space.

The audio from the footage is also intended for use. It will be mixed with the music that the DJ plays. There are also improvements to be made to the colour on the videos.

Performance on the 25th Jan 2007
VJs: Magenta, Fata Morgana, Mourish
Djs: Babylon Dom, tripledot, Simian Sounds

Second event at QBar

This was a first opportunity to play with footage I have been collecting from journeys originating from and returning to Falmouth. I found the result of mixing common elements taken from different landscapes very interesting. It creates a direct visual comparison between several places at the same time, by overlapping visuals. As more material is collected these comparisons will become more evident and varied. The factor of seasonal change will create more dramatic results.
It is important to play with the existing footage from the beginning of the journey. By playing live I'll learn what I can do with the footage, by receiving feedback from viewers I will know what works. Live performance is not only the resultant work it is also a fundamental part of a learning process and creation.

Performance on the 18 Jan 2007
VJs: Babylon Dom, Kngsley, CarrickDistrictHero

Cocktail time at QBar

A lot of improvisation took place tonight. It was very nice to see people that never VJed get in contro and mix. For next time it would be fantastic to get more non VJ people mixing. People interested in films, that produce their own videos. Perhaps also playing adventure games on the big projector or maybe a slide show.

Performance on the 15 Dec 2006
Babylon Dom, Kingsley Magenta, Magda
VJs: Magenta, Mourish, Magda, Robin, Rae

The first VJam session at Dunstanville Terrace

On the this first event people got together to play with old mixers and fish tanks and water.
There were also some cameras to try with: wireless, infra-red and water proof. We also had a go at a few toys (mirror ball amongs them) and VJ software.
It took place on the 13th November 2006.
Robin made a documentary for Channel4.
